Repair has been completed of an improperly sealed portion of the liner, which had allowed surface water infiltration. Inspections and maintenance of the cap are ongoing. Groundwater investigation related to the former waste water treatment plant is ongoing; previous groundwater sampling results indicate iron and manganese concentrations above drinking water standards but below industrial cleanup standards in five groundwater monitoring wells. The metals are believed to be naturally occurring. Principal activities include long-term post-closure operation, maintenance and monitoring (OM&M). Work is being completed under the RCRA Corrective Action program under Michigan Department of Environmental Quality oversight.
