Spitzley Named to Board of National Organization Rooted in Redevelopment

Patricia A. Spitzley, Director of Government Relations and Deputy Redevelopment Manager for Detroit-based RACER Trust, has been appointed to the Board of the Center for Creative Land Recycling (CCLR), the nation’s oldest nonprofit dedicated to the beneficial reuse of underutilized and contaminated properties.

As a member of the CCLR Board, she will help oversee an organization with national expertise in complex land reuse projects and unsurpassed knowledge of the redevelopment landscape, which it uses to facilitate productive and beneficial reuses of formerly impaired properties.

RACER Trust is one of the largest environmental bankruptcy trusts in U.S. history, tasked with the cleanup and sale for redevelopment of former General Motors properties across a 14-state portfolio. Ms. Spitzley is a leader on a team that has closed nearly 100 property sales, resulting in more than 69,000 recurring jobs and $22.3 billion in total, annual output.

Before joining RACER, Ms. Spitzley served as an environmental press secretary in Michigan in the administrations of Gov. John Engler, a Republican, and Democratic Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm.
