RACER Trust Promoting Investment Opportunities at Site Selectors Guild Fall Forum

RACER Trust today announced that two members of its Redevelopment team — Deputy Redevelopment Manager Patricia Spitzley and Transaction Manager Steven Black — are participating this week in the 2018 Site Selectors Guild Fall Forum in Greenville, S.C., where they are promoting investments in RACER properties to the world’s foremost professional site selection consultants.

The Site Selectors Guild Fall Forum provides one-on-one meeting opportunities with consultants who provide strategic advice to private companies that are considering investments in capacity expansion or new markets.

Members of the Site Selectors Guild represent companies from around the world and in every economic sector. The Fall Forum features an array of roundtable and panel discussions, as well as one-on-one networking opportunities designed to exchange information and build relationships.

Site Selectors Guild events are among the several commercial real estate marketing, industry and peer networking events RACER Trust’s Redevelopment team participates in annually as it positions RACER properties for maximum market exposure, all with the goal of securing new investments that lead to jobs, restoration of tax base and other beneficial outcomes for RACER communities.

“Our team is focused on and committed to maximizing the redevelopment potential of our properties for the benefit of our host communities, and success in this mission depends in large measure on informing the market and building strong relationships with decision makers and their trusted advisors,” said Elliott P. Laws, of EPLET, LLC, administrative trustee of RACER Trust. “Members of the Site Selectors Guild are at the top of their profession, with the access, know-how and network to help us achieve our objectives. These relationships and connections have yielded several outstanding leads and prospects that we might not otherwise have learned about or been in a position to capture.”

Ms. Spitzley joined RACER Trust as Deputy Redevelopment Manager soon after the Trust was formed in 2011. Prior to joining RACER, she had various roles in Michigan state government, including environmental policy, legal affairs, communications and community outreach. She was Communications Director for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality as well as the Chief of the Office of Legal Services for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

As RACER’s transaction manager, Mr. Black works to implement the Trust’s real estate redevelopment strategy by coordinating efforts of internal and external partners to drive the sale, lease and license of Trust properties. Mr. Black is a Certified Economic Developer and has extensive experience in brownfield redevelopment and economic development, having served eight years as Deputy City Manager of Community Development for Bay City, Mich., before joining RACER. He previously was Vice President of Saginaw Future, Inc., a regional economic development agency.

About RACER Trust: RACER (Revitalizing Auto Communities Environmental Response) Trust was created to clean up and position for redevelopment properties and other facilities owned by the former General Motors Corp. before its 2009 bankruptcy. RACER is one of the largest holders of industrial property in the United States, and when it was formed was the largest environmental response and remediation trust in U.S. history. When the Trust was formed, it owned properties at 89 locations in 14 states, principally in the Midwest and Northeast. The Trust was created by a settlement agreement in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court between the U.S. Government, the 14 states where the former GM properties are located, and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, which owns land adjoining one of the properties in Upstate New York.
