Environmental Progress

RACER is in the process of conducting environmental investigations at and near the site with technical assistance from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and will prepare a course of action to address any impacts of historical operations in conjunction with IDEM. Soils, groundwater and indoor air are being evaluated during the investigations. The investigations to date indicate minimal impacts to the eastern three-quarters of the site. Ongoing investigations are focusing on soils and groundwater in the western fourth of the site and in a neighborhood to the south of the site to determine nature and extent of groundwater impacts.
