A 10.8-acre parking lot located on the corner of West Atherton Road and South Saginaw Street in Flint, the property formerly served as a landfill and is zoned G, Heavy Manufacturing.

Environmental Progress

Between 1987 and 2007, various investigations were conducted at the site. The results of these investigations indicated volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and metals in the soil. Quarterly groundwater monitoring was conducted. Impacted soil was removed from the site in 2010. Follow-up investigation was completed in 2012. A Declaration of Restrictive Covenant approved by MDEQ that restricts use to non-residential, prohibits disturbance or damage to the perimeter fence, restricts excavation activities, prohibits installation of wells for potable use, requires proper management of contaminated soil, and requires soil vapor management was recorded with the Genesee County Register of Deeds in March 2014. MDEQ issued a Certificate of Completion for the activity completed at the site in February 2015. 

Further planned activity is limited to site inspections and necessary maintenance of the perimeter fence or surface cover. Work is being completed under Part 201 under the oversight of MDEQ.
